The Bold and the Beautiful (B&B) spoilers reveal that plenty of fans still miss the Avants and the actors who brought them to life – especially Obba Babatundé, who played Julius Avant starting in 2015. Julius last appeared in 2020, but many viewers have always longed to see more of him.
Now that CBS is moving forward with plans for a new daytime drama called The Gates, maybe it could bring another opportunity for Babatundé to shine.
The Gates is centered around a wealthy Black family living in a gated community, so Babatundé would be perfect as that family’s patriarch if you ask us!
It could be more than just wishful thinking based on Obba Babatundé’s recent posts on X, formerly known as Twitter.
That’s where Babatundé shared a fun throwback pic from the night he won a Daytime Emmy for his performance on B&B.
“Tis the season and I am reminded of how 8 years ago today I was recognized for my work on @BandB_CBS and I am just as proud today as I was the evening I took this photo #excellence,” Babatundé said.
That brought a reply from Michele Val Jean, who’s serving as writer, showrunner and executive producer on The Gates.
Jean was previously on the writing team at B&B, so that’s important to keep in mind as we look at this social media exchange.
After Jean called it a “great night,” Babatundé agreed and dropped what could be a huge hint about his potential future on CBS’ newest soap.
“Yes and you were there and now together we have a chance to once again make magic,” Babatundé insisted.
Of course, many viewers quickly connected the dots and speculated that Obba Babatundé would become part of The Gates, which is set to debut in January 2025.
There’s no confirmation on that just yet, but it’s reasonable to make predictions and hope for the best!
Babatundé would be an amazing cast addition and could help The Gates deliver some exciting drama right off the bat.
