The 2025 Movieguard Awards were hosted by Mario Lopez. Actors Candace Cameron Bure and Jesse Hutch were two of the night’s big winners.
Mario Lopez kicked off the award show by drawing attention and support for the victims of the Los Angeles wildfires and thanking the first responders.
Lopez remarked, “Lately, you can’t think about Hollywood without thinking about those devastating wildfires. We dedicate tonight to those still recovering from the disaster, as well as the brave first responders who sacrificed so much.”
“Tonight is for you,” Lopez said. “The entertainment industry is going through a great deal of change on the business side. Tonight’s Movieguide Awards honors the part that doesn’t ever change: telling great stories that uplift and bring joy to moviegoer’s hearts.”
Lopez was later joined on stage by his family members: wife Courtney, and their children Gia, Nico, and Santino, who presented the award for “Best Family Movie.”
Candace Cameron Bure accepted the “Best Actress” Grace Award for TV for her work on “A Christmas Less Traveled,” while Jesse Hutch won for “Best Actor” for “Christmas Under the Northern Lights.”
Joe Mantegna of “Criminal Minds” and Gary Sinise presented the “Best Movie for Mature Audiences” honor to “Young Woman and the Sea,” which was accepted by director Joachim Rønning and Sam Dickerson, the executive vice president production at Walt Disney Studios.
Human Rights advocate and former supermodel Kathy Ireland presented the award for “Faith & Freedom Award for Movies” with Great American Family actor Jesse Hutch.
R&B artist Shelea sang “Something’s Coming” during a moving tribute to the first responders. Actress and award-winning producer Roma Downey was bestowed the Visionary Award.
Grammy award-winning Christian music artist Joel Smallbone (for King & Country) introduced his wife, actress and singer/songwriter Moriah Peters, as she sang her viral hit “Hasta Mañana.”
Music icon Don McLean made an appearance alongside sports legend Metta Sandiford-Artest as they presented the “Best Documentary Award.”
The evening concluded with a prayer led by “A Little Women’s Christmas” actor Jesse Hutch.
