Maya Rudolph is returning to Studio 8H this fall to revisit her iconic role of Vice President Kamala Harris on Saturday Night Live.
As first reported by Deadline, production on Season 3 of Rudolph’s Apple TV+ series Loot has been put on hold and will now begin in January. It was originally slated to begin shooting on August 26th.
Rudolph’s impression of Harris is so beloved that her return was inevitable after President Joe Biden dropped out of his 2024 Presidential campaign on July 21st. Harris is now expected to be the Democratic Presidential nominee.
Harris has made a tremendous impact on pop culture since her presidential campaign began, with Beyoncé approving the use of “Freedom” as her walk-in song and Megan Thee Stallion joining her rally on Tuesday evening. She’s also embraced memes like “brat summer” after securing Charli XCX’s endorsement.
All of this is plenty of comedic fodder for Rudolph, who won an Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series Emmy award for her portrayal of Harris in 2020. Season 50 of SNL kicks off on September 28th.
