On March 10, Emma Stone took home her second career Academy Award for “Best Actress.”

She previously won the “Best Actress” category back in 2016 for “La La Land,” where she played Mia Dolan.

The 96th annual Academy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, took place at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood.

The ceremony was televised live on ABC, and was seen in over 200 territories worldwide.

Stone won for her portrayal of Bella Baxter in “Poor Things,” which was directed by Yorgos Lanthimos.

The 2024 “Best Actress” category was presented by prior “Best Actress” winners Sally Field, Jennifer Lawrence, last year’s winner Michelle Yeoh, Charlize Theron, and Jessica Lange.

Stone bested fellow “Best Actress” nominees Annette Bening (“Nyad”), Lily Gladstone (“Killers of the Flower Moon”), Sandra Huller (“Anatomy of a Fall”), and Carey Mulligan (“Maestro”).

This was clearly the most suspenseful acting category of the evening, especially since it was the battle of the “Stones” (Emma Stone vs. Lily Gladstone), hence they left it for second to last (before “Best Picture”).

Her movie “Poor Things” is now streaming on Hulu. It was nominated for a total of 11 Academy Awards, and it won four of them.

Press Room interviews

Following her Oscar win, Stone came to the Press Room, where she took three questions from members of the media.

On being shocked about her 2024 win, Stone said, “I think I blacked out. I was very shocked, and I still feel like I’m spinning a little bit. It’s a huge honor and I am very surprised.

Stone also addressed her wardrobe malfunction with her dress. “They sewed me back in, which was wonderful,” she admitted.

“I genuinely do think that I busted it during ‘I’m Just Ken.’ I was so amazed by Ryan [Gosling] and what he was doing. That number just blew my mind… and things happen.”

Stone also opened up about what she learned about playing her character, Bella Baxter. “Bella is a character that is so important to me,” Stone acknowledged.

“I like the chance of getting to play a person from scratch, but in a total metaphorical (can’t really happen in real life way),” she said.

“Bella is gaining language and skills at a rapid pace every day, and she is getting to chart that course and realize that she was full of joy, curiosity, and a true love of not just the good but the challenging in life and was fascinated by all of it,” she elaborated.

“That was an amazing lesson to take with me, and to try to get to live in the shoes of every day,” she admitted. “I really miss playing her ever since we wrapped filming, which was a long time ago, about 2.5 years ago.”

“I miss Bella, and I am really grateful that we got to celebrate the film tonight and over these past few months. Yeah, I love her,” she concluded.
