The actress called out a guest sitting “in the back” midway through her speech on Thursday night.

Demi, 61, was paying tribute to her long-time friend Cher, 78, at the event.

“I’m going to see if this is the moment we’ve all been waiting for,” she said as the crowd cheered.

“I’m just making sure that you’re really, really with me. Because this incredible woman that I’m about to introduce.

“She’s a Grammy winner, an Oscar winner, an Emmy winner.”

Demi then paused, seemingly irritated by a disturbance in the crowd.

She turned to the corner of the room and asked, “Are you an Emmy winner over there in the back of the room? I f**king don’t think so.”

The audience seemed surprised by the outburst, with some cheering and clapping.

“She’s a style icon and my personal hair inspiration. And she was honored by amfAR for their award of inspiration in 2015,” Demi went on.

“The bottom line is she is just one of the most talented, successful, and best-loved performers of all time.”

“So please,” she said, pausing with a a long stare at the audience before continuing, “please give a warm welcome to the incredible, one and only, Cher.”

It is unclear if Demi was joking with her comment to the audience or if a guest had said something to her.

“She said, I will treat you like a child until you learn respect,” one fan wrote, commenting on the video of her speech shared on X, formerly Twitter.

“Iconic,” another added.

OLD FRIENDS

Demi has been friends with Cher for nearly 30 years, with the pair starring in the 1996 HBO series If These Walls Could Talk.

She posed with the pop icon on the red carpet earlier in the evening.

Cher also brought along her music executive boyfriend, Alexander “AE” Edwards, 38, and the pair shared a passionate kiss in front of the cameras.

The annual amfAR gala was founded by Elizabeth Taylor in 1993 and helps raise funds for HIV/AIDS research.

Demi is in France to promote her new movie The Substance, which is directed by Coralie Fargeat.

Earlier this week she attended the Cannes Film Festival with her The Substance co-stars, Dennis Quaid, 70, and Margaret Qualley, 29.

The Ghost actress also posed with her tiny Chihuahua, Pilaf, on the red carpet.

Their horror movie received a 13-minute-long standing ovation at the screening and high praise at the following press conference.

Demi plays a TV aerobics host who gets fired from her job because of her age.

She takes a drug that turns people into better, younger versions of themselves – played by Margaret.

Demi revealed she chose to do a horror movie to be pushed out of her “comfort zone.”

“This [movie] touched on so many themes that we all face, we seek validation and belonging,” she said at the press conference.

“It takes us to extremes and allows us to step into it in a unique way.”
