Complex Hosts Special Screening of LeBron James Biopic ‘Shooting Stars’


Ahead of the film’s June 2 debut on Peacock, Complex hosted a special screening of Shooting Stars with SpringHill in New York.

The Complex screening of the LeBron James biopic and inspiring coming-of-age story was held at the AMC Lincoln Square theater on Tuesday evening. Those invited to get an early viewing of the Chris Robinson-directed film included members of youth basketball leagues, high school players, after-school program participants in underrepresented regions, and more.

Among the celebrities in attendance was cast member and Stranger Things alum Caleb McLaughlin, who spoke about his experiences working on the hit Netflix show, playing Young Simba in The Lion King musical on Broadway, and much more while in conversation with Paul Rivera of SpringHill.

Shooting Stars director Chris Robinson was also in attendance and briefly spoke to the audience. 

Shooting Stars—based on the book of the same name by LeBron James and Friday Night Lights author H.G. “Buzz” Bissinger—focuses on the NBA legend’s high school years. Starring in the Robinson-helmed adaptation are Wood Harris, Marquis “Mookie” Cook, the aforementioned Caleb McLaughlin, Natalie Paul, Algee Smith, and Dermot Mulroney.
