Taylor Swift could be welcomed to Rio de Janeiro by a famous set of open arms.
Fans in Brazil are calling on Mayor Eduardo Paes to allow the singer’s “Junior Jewels” T-shirt from her “You Belong With Me” music video to be projected onto the famous Christ the Redeemer statue this weekend when she brings the Eras Tour to the city — and he’s strongly considering it.
“Dear @taylorswift13 fans, I’m going to ask dear Father Omar to see if we can get this honor,” Paes recently addressed fans on X after the Taylor Swift Brasil fan account’s rendered proposal went viral.
“He’s the guy who runs the projections at @cristoredentor! In the meantime: his Instagram is @padreomaroficial,” he added, translated from Portuguese.
Anthony Roberto Justus, who created the Brazilian fan account told USA Today, “The idea of designing a T-shirt showcases our love of her art and shows that we are all eagerly awaiting her arrival with love,” Justus said. “We tagged the mayor. He saw it, and he thought it was brilliant.”
“On several occasions, they will project images onto the statue,” Justus said, “but always with the owner’s authorization. Even though the rendering is art illustrated by fans, we don’t want to violate Taylor’s copyright.”
Justus also told the outlet that Father Omar acknowledged the Swifties’ request in an Instagram story, writing, “@taylorswift fans, we received your comments with great joy and await contact from the singer’s advisors.”
The Post has contacted a rep for Swift for comment.
The “Shake It Off” hitmaker is set to bring the Eras Tour to Rio de Janeiro on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Last weekend, Swift played shows in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she changed a lyric in “Karma” to shoutout her rumored beau, Travis Kelce.
