Succession composer Nicholas Britell inks a deal with Secretly Distribution, releasing the series’ Season 4 soundtrack just hours after the finale aired.

As Secretly Distribution marks its 25-year-anniversary as a global leader in the independent music industry and a hands-on solution for some of the world’s most revered record labels and visionary artists, the company announces a partnership with three-time Academy Award-nominated, Grammy-nominated, and Emmy-winning composer Nicholas Britell.

Best known for his acclaimed scores on films with Barry Jenkins and Adam McKay, and most recently on HBO’s SuccessionSecretly Distribution will work directly with the composer on various upcoming projects and campaigns. Just hours after the high-anticipated series finale aired, Secretly Distribution released Succession: Season 4 (HBO Original Series Soundtrack) to global streaming services through the composer’s newly-launched Lake George Music Group imprint.

“It has long been a dream of mine to release music through my own label, and I’m tremendously excited to have the final season of Succession as our label’s first release,” says Britell. “Lake George Music Group is proud to partner with the team at Secretly.”

In addition to Secretly’s growing presence in the world of music for film and television, including indie outfit A24’s soundtrack label (Everything Everywhere All At Once), and its partnerships with individual artists such as Britell, Santigold, Madison McFerrin, Beirut, and Crumb, the company has expanded its support of artist-owned imprints including Sufjan Stevens’ Asthmatic Kitty, Sylvan Esso’s Psychic Hotline, Dr. Dog’s We Buy Gold Records, and a diverse array of legacy estate deals.

“Secretly’s mission is maximizing access and support for our labels and artists,” says Secretly Distribution’s CEO, Darius Van Arman. “It’s an honor to have spent the last two decades with a team that has grown to be the most passionate and dynamic in independent music.”

Currently nominated for Independent Champion at the upcoming Libera Awards, Secretly Distribution saw the company’s sales total over $85 million in 2022, with a monthly distributed repertoire count of more than one billion streams. That’s a 30% year-over-year increase from 2021 as Secretly continues to differentiate itself from the typical fare of scale-oriented distribution platforms and services.

Secretly Distribution offers a fully independent path to market, a boutique service model, and a culture-first vision that has earned its devotees among prominent independent labels, DSPs, and retailers.
