Still Excites Me and Breaks My Heart

"Still Excites Me and Breaks My Heart"

Trent Reznor has shared his reflections on the 30th anniversary of Nine Inch Nails’ breakout album, The Downward Spiral, in a post on the band’s official website describing how the seminal project still impacts him.

“Spending too much time looking backwards feels dangerous to me, but this day on the calendar caught my attention,” Reznor wrote in the message. ” Has it really been that long, old friend? I just spent an hour listening to this time capsule of what 28 year old me had to say, and it still excites me and breaks my heart.”

The NIN mastermind concluded the note by encouraging fans to “be kind to yourselves,” adding that he hopes to “see you soon.”

In further celebration of the album’s 30th anniversary, Heavy Consequence spoke with Godsmack singer Sully Erna, Code Orange vocalist Jami Morgan, and Parkway Drive frontman Winston McCall. Watch the video below.
