Rolling Loud Miami no longer features Yeezy, allegedly because he wanted to invite Travis Scott on stage.

The official statement alludes to issues, but no specific reason is given. “We were looking forward to Ye headlining Rolling Loud Miami 2022,” the statement reads. “We spent months working with him and his team on the performance. Unfortunately, Ye has decided that he will no longer perform.”

Why? What made Ye back out at the last minute, with just a few days left until Rolling Loud Miami kicks off?

Co-Founder Tariq Cherif’s comments on Instagram may shed some light on the situation. “Tried to convince Ye to stay on the lineup be he wasn’t having it,” the organizer writes under the news of a Kid Cudi replacement. Fans weren’t happy with the announcement and asked why someone like Playboi Carti or Travis Scott wasn’t brought on board as a Ye replacement instead.

In a now-deleted Instagram comment, Tariq Cherif shares, “Venue won’t allow Travis because of Astroworld deaths.” That has caused an even larger backlash towards Rolling Loud Miami and its chosen venue, Hard Rock Stadium. Now Cherif is telling TMZ that the organizers did reach out to Travis Scott about filling in for Ye. However, short time constraints made the turnaround nearly impossible to pull off for Scott’s desired stage design.

Rolling Loud Miami is kicking off at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on Friday, July 22. The lineup includes Playboi Carti, Lil Durk, Don Toliver, 2 Chainz, Lil Yachty, Three 6 Mafia, Saweetie, Lil Uzi Vert, Gunna, DaBaby, Gucci Mane, and many other huge names in hip-hop.

This is not the first time that Ye has dropped out of a festival at the last minute. Ye was also supposed to headline Coachella 2022 but dropped out just weeks before the festival kicked off. Production and design firm Phantom Labs is suing Kanye West for $7.1 million. They allege the rapper failed to pay the team for their work on his Coachella set, as well as several other large-scale events and projects.
