When PhaseOne dropped “Welcome to Mayhem” back in 2017, little did he know just how much damage was in store.
The esteemed producer, guitarist and songwriter is now ready to wreak havoc with Sounds of Mayhem, his new record label venture. A longtime favorite of dubstep powerhouse Disciple Recordings, PhaseOne says the label’s releases will live in the nexus between metal and bass music.
Named after PhaseOne’s unrelenting annual mix series of the same name, Sounds of Mayhem “channels themes of freedom, anarchy and fun,” according its website. He says he’ll be releasing all of his own music on the independent imprint, which will also function as a platform to showcase promising electronic music producers.
“The word Mayhem means a lot to me,” PhaseOne explained in a tweet. “Not only has it been a huge part of my brand since the turning point in my career when I released ‘Welcome To Mayhem’ in 2017. It also represents the chaos that bass music and metal ensues in the sense that the listener can express themselves freely and let loose a little especially in a live setting, which to me symbolises rebellion, freedom and anarchy hence the play-on the logo.”
