Trolley and OpenPlay sign a partnership integrating the former into the latter to ensure fast, secure, and compliant royalty payments for artists.

Music catalog management platform and business engine OpenPlay has announced a new collaboration with Trolley, the end-to-end payouts platform for the internet economy. The partnership will see Trolley integrated into OpenPlay Reach, the recently launched service designed to support royalty management and payout of music and video assets.

Trusted by major and independent labels, distributors, publishers, and streaming services, Trolley processes billions in payments annually for over 5 million payees across 210 countries. Its infrastructure simplifies the complexity of global, multi-territory royalty payments, enabling accurate on-time payouts to artists and other rightsholders at scale.

With this integration, OpenPlay will utilize Trolley as their financial compliance royalty payments provider, enabling fast and secure transactions. In addition to payouts, OpenPlay Reach clients and users will receive built-in features such as tax forms management, risk mitigation, and fraud prevention.

Both OpenPlay and Trolley are on a mission to support the broader music ecosystem, with a special focus on the independent sector. Together, they aim to reduce intermediaries in the asset, data, and royalty process, guaranteeing access to enterprise-grade payout tools, promoting greater financial transparency, education, and empowerment for distributors, labels, and artists at every level.

“We’ve seen Trolley’s dedication to simplifying royalty payments in an increasingly complex digital music economy,” said Edward Ginis, Co-Founder and Chief Client Officer of OpenPlay. “We are proud to bring Trolley into the OpenPlay Reach suite, providing music companies with trusted, flexible tools to manage payouts with precision and autonomy, regardless of their size or type of ownership.”

“At Trolley, our mission is to build the payouts platform for the internet economy, and in our conversations we’ve come to learn how much OpenPlay shares that vision,” added Tim Nixon, CEO and Founder of Trolley. “Together, we’re empowering music labels and artists with financial transparency and seamless, artist-level payouts so that creators everywhere can thrive.”

Launched in February, OpenPlay Reach further advances OpenPlay’s mission to provide labels and publishers with the most complete music business engine. It offers a new flexible and lower-cost approach to how music and videos are distributed, tracked, and monetized, giving rights owners the independence to take control of their asset management.
