Tina Turner’s lost song, “Hot For You Baby,” is set to make a public debut nearly two years after the music icon’s death.

Almost two years after her death on May 24, 2023, Tina Turner has a new track set to debut. The “lost song,” called “Hot For You Baby,” is due to appear in the 40th anniversary edition release of Tina’s fifth studio album, Private Dancer, alongside other previously unreleased tracks.

Written by Australian singer John Paul Young and produced by John Carter, the song was originally set to appear on Tina Turner’s 1984 album, but didn’t make the cut. Those who have heard the track describe it as carrying a distinct rock sound with a guitar solo and instruments like the organ and drums guiding the rhythm.

Turner’s Private Dancer included one of the late Queen of Rock n’ Roll’s biggest hits, “What’s Love Got to Do With It.” The track hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 after its release, while the album peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 album chart. The album sold 10 million copies and earned three Grammy awards, including Record of the Year for “What’s Love Got to Do With It.”

Tina Turner died at age 83 on May 24, 2023, following a battle with illness. A few months later, a greatest hits compilation was released to celebrate 50 years of Tina’s incredible solo career. The 55-track compilation album included her cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love,” as well as her biggest hits.

Notably, Tina’s solo career began after she separated from and divorced the physically abusive Ike Turner. Her 1986 autobiography, I, Tina, detailed the extensive abuse she suffered, and helped make her an icon for survivors of abuse.

The 40th anniversary edition of Private Dancer is set for release on March 21, 2025.
