Meek Mill is already having a productive 2023, with plans to release a new album every quarter this year: “It’s not even albums no more; we really making full docuseries music.”
Meek Mill plans for an ambitious 2023, posting on Twitter and Instagram on January 1 what his fans can expect to see from him this year. Mill tweeted a link to his Instagram post, where he shared a video previewing several new tracks in a cinematic format.
“It’s not even albums no more; we really making full docuseries music!” Meek Mill tweeted, with a link to his preview video on Instagram.
“‘Dream Catchin’ the movie,” the rapper’s video post caption reads. “Date soon come #2023 first quarter,” with a bunch of sparkle emojis. “I been loading up for a reason. Let’s ball!”
Meek added in a tweet on January 2 that he will be releasing music regularly throughout the year: “This year, (an) album every quarter!”
Meek Mill’s fifth studio album, Expensive Pain, was released on October 1, 2021, featuring singles like “Flamerz Flow,” “Sharing Locations,” and “Blue Notes 2,” with guest appearances from Lil Baby, Kehlani, Young Thug, and more. The album charted at Number 3 on the all-genre Billboard 200 and spent 19 weeks on the chart.
Most recently, Mill released the Flamers 5 mixtape on November 22, which he used to tease that he had an album coming “in the next eight weeks.”
Meanwhile, Meek Mill has had a productive December — posting bail of multiple women so they could spend the Christmas holiday with their families. An Instagram post by his nonprofit REFORM Alliance says the 20 women were incarcerated at Philadelphia’s Riverside Correctional Facility.
“The women, who were unable to afford bail, will now be able to spend the holiday season with their families and loved ones,” the caption read. “The women will also each receive a gift card to purchase groceries or gifts for the holidays.”
“For families impacted by the criminal justice system, the holidays can be an extremely challenging time,” the rapper said in a statement. “No one should have to spend the holidays in jail simply because they can’t afford bail, and no child should be without their parents during this time if we can do something about it. I’m grateful for the opportunity to help these women be with their families and loved ones during this special time of year.”
The rapper also visited the Philadelphia Eagles’ practice facility earlier last month to spend time with kids whose families are caught in the criminal justice system. Mill was seen tossing a football around — with poor form, over which he shared a laugh with Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin — to the resounding cheers of children.
“He’s almost as unathletic as I am,” Rubin teased Mill.
