Tranter — nominated for Songwriter of the Year, Non-Classical at the 2024 Grammys for their work with Miley Cyrus, Reneé Rapp, anad Måneskin — instantly fell in love with “Swan Dive” and its poetic message of self-empowerment. Ever since, it’s continued to shape their taste and songwriting process.

“I remember vividly hearing that song for the first time,” the former Semi Precious Weapons singer says. “I directed this variety show that was an AIDS benefit in 1997, and Ani’s album Dilate was given to me as a gift… they were like, ‘We think you’d love this,’ and they were right.”
