Gucci Mane, Key Glock, NLE Choppa And More Mourn Loss of Big Scarr

Rising Memphis rapper Big Scarr passed away on Thursday, TMZ reports. Scarr, born Alexander Woods, was 22 years old.

Gucci Mane, who signed Big Scarr to his New 1017 Records label in 2020, took to Instagram on Thursday to the mourn the up-and-comer’s death. “This hurt. I’m a miss you,” Gucci wrote.

TMZ notes that Scarr’s cause of death is unknown, though there are no signs of foul play.

Numerous journalists and rap insiders took to social media on Friday to share tributes to Scarr, while acknowledging the recent tragedies that have engulfed the hip-hop community.

After signing with Gucci’s 1017 label in 2020, Big Scarr dropped his debut full-length project Big Grim Reaper in 2021. After making waves with notable tracks such as “SolcyBoyz 2” and “Poppin,” Big Scarr was named to XXL’s 2022 Freshman Class, and was set to embark on a tour with fellow Memphis rapper Key Glock.
