Swedish glam metal/sleaze rockers CRASHDÏET have released the official music video for their latest single “Powerline”. The track, which features a guest appearance by STEEL PANTHER singer Michael Starr, is taken from CRASHDÏET‘s new album, “Automaton”, out now via Crusader Records/Golden Robot Records. The first-ever featured guest appearance on a CRASHDÏET album, this anthem tune is a soaring duet between Starr and CRASHDÏET vocalist Gabriel Keyes.
Regarding how the collaboration with Starr came about, CRASHDÏET guitarist Martin Sweet told Metal Roos: “We just came up with the idea in the studio, like we should have a guest appearance in this song. We met STEEL PANTHER way back a few years ago and it turned out there they had their eyes on us, they liked our music. And we just popped the question to Michael Starr, and he was, like, ‘Yeah, dude. Let’s do it.'”
CRASHDÏET drummer Eric Young recently announced that he was stepping aside from the band to focus on his “own well-being for a while.” He is being temporary replaced by former HANOI ROCKS drummer Kari “Lacu” Lahtinen.
Last November, CRASHDÏET released “No Man’s Land”, the first single from “Automaton”. A story about looking inwards and moving forward, no matter the cost, it marked the first new music from CRASHDÏET since the release of 2019’s “Rust” album.
Keyes, who joined CRASHDÏET in December 2017, made his recording debut with the band on “Rust”.
CRASHDÏET was originally founded in 2000 by late vocalist Dave Lepard and guitarist Mary Goore, better known as GHOST‘s Tobias Forge. The group’s 2005 debut album, “Rest In Sleaze”, debuted at No. 12 in the band’s home country, but eight months after its release, the 25-year-old Lepard committed suicide. CRASHDÏET then recruited Finnish vocalist H. Olliver Twisted (RECKLESS LOVE) for its 2007 sophomore album, “The Unattractive Revolution”, but after touring in support of the LP, Twisted exited the group. The band then welcomed Simon Cruz, who appeared on 2010’s “Generation Wild” (which reached No. 3 in Sweden) and 2013’s “The Savage Playground” (which reached No. 2) before leaving the band in the midst of a Japanese tour in 2015.
