Celine Dion returning to Las Vegas for new residency: report

Celine Dion is reportedly making her Las Vegas comeback!

Dion, 56, is said to be in the “final stages” of signing a residency deal with Resorts World after several months of negotiations, reports TMZ

“It’s basically a done deal,” one source told the outlet. “She’s doing it.”

The residency would reportedly begin either late 2024 or early 2025 and be produced by sports and live entertainment giant AEG.

News of Dion’s potential return to the Vegas stage comes amid her ongoing battle with stiff person syndrome.

Stiff person syndrome is described by RareDiseases.org as a “rare acquired neurological disorder characterized by progressive muscle stiffness (rigidity) and repeated episodes of painful muscle spasms.”

Dion shared her diagnosis with the public in December of 2022. The disease forced her to cancel her “Courage World Tour” and several other shows.

The “My Heart Will Go On” singer shared some of the harrowing details of her health battle with fans in her 2024 documentary, “I Am: Celine Dion,” including footage of her having seizures.

Despite her medical struggles, Dion has been adamant that she wants to return to performing live. Insiders claimed the reported new residency is entirely her idea.

“This is all her,” a source told TMZ. “No one is pushing her to do it. She has a passion for getting back onstage, and she’s gonna do it.”

“She’s just prepared to power through it,” they added. “It won’t stop her from performing.”

It is not yet known how long the residency would run, but it would likely be much shorter than her two previous residencies at Caesars Palace, the first of which ran from 2003 to 2007 and the second from 2011 to 2019. Those residencies reportedly grossed a combined $681.3 million.

Dion’s determination to continue singing live despite her health diagnosis was made explicitly clear in an interview earlier this year with CBC

“Oh, I’ll sing again,” Dion replied when asked if fans could expect her to continue performing. “I’ll sing again. That’s for sure.”

“The expectation, [fans] deserve to have an expectation,” she added. “They pay.”

“We’ve had a lot of happiness because of the fans paying shows and buying my records,” she explained. “And they have all the rights to have all the expectation.”

However, Dion said that her own expectations are “probably bigger than what [the fans] expect from me.”

The news of Dion’s possible third Vegas residency comes on the heels of reports that she will perform at the Opening Ceremonies of the 2024 summer Olympics in Paris.

The French-Canadian singer is rumored to be performing a duet of the French classic “La Vie en Rose” with Lady Gaga.

The “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now” chanteuse landed in Paris on Tuesday, July 22, and took time to greet fans who waited outside her hotel.

Performing at the Olympics opening ceremony will reportedly net Dion $2 million.
