Bad Bunny will host the WWE event ‘Backlash’ when it arrives in Puerto Rico in May. Here’s the latest.

The wrestling event will be held at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot in San Juan. It’s the first live WWE event to be held in almost twenty years on the island. “In 2005 when I was a kid, I wasn’t able to attend New Year’s Revolution at el Coliseo,” Bad Bunny says about the opportunity.

“Finally 18 years later WWE returns to the island with a massive event and this time I won’t miss it.” Bad Bunny is no stranger to partnering with the WWE for promotions.

In 2021, he performed “Booker T” at the Royal Rumble and soon began appearing on Monday Night Raw broadcasts. He won the WWE 24/7 Championship that year. In 2022 he appeared in the Royal Rumble as a contender to make it into the final five. He’s also slated to be a playable character in the upcoming WWE 2K23 video game.

“Truly, wrestling has influenced me a lot and I’ve applied it to my career,” the rapper told Allure in 2021 about his love of the sport. “The style, the importance of having a trademark move, phrase, or look, and always remembering the element of surprise. In wrestling, the fans love getting caught off guard. I like to create the same emotion with my music.”

“We’re excited to bring Backlash to San Juan as the demand for WWE premium live events outside of the continental United States continues to grow,” WWE chief content officer Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque says about the upcoming event. “Bad Bunny is one of the world’s most-popular entertainers and nowhere is that more evident than in his native Puerto Rico.”

This is the first WWE premium live event following WrestleMania 39. Following the Backlash Puerto Rico performance, the next live event for the WWE is King and Queen of the Ring, taking place on May 27 in Saudi Arabia.
