Two weeks after an acrimonious split from WMG, Brazilian singer Anitta has signed with UMG’s Republic Records.

Signs of a strained relationship between Anitta and Warner cropped up earlier this year. The singer joked on social media that she’d be willing to auction off her organs to exit her WMG contract. Less than a month later, the singer was out of the contract.

The Rio de Janeiro-born singer (Larissa de Macedo Machado) signed with Warner Music Brazil in 2013. She inked a side contract with WMG in January 2020 and released a project in April 2022 called Versions of Me. Despite that project’s success, Anitta revealed she was less than happy behind the scenes. She says she was made to pay for music videos out of her own pocket and that WMG had reserved its financial support for tracks going viral on TikTok.

Following the auctioning her organs comment, Anitta and Warner Music released a joint statement about the singer going her own way. “After eleven years of successful partnership, we’ve agreed to go our separate ways. Anitta would like to thank the Warner Music team for all their support. And the Warner team wishes Anitta all the best in [the] future.”

Now just two weeks after that statement, Anitta is reportedly signed to Republic Records. Republic has not returned press requests for comment. Anitta is managed by Brandon Silverstein at S10 Entertainment.

The Brazilian superstar won an MTV Music Video Award and co-hosted the Latin Grammy Awards. Variety reports that the singer paid ‘millions’ to get out of her contract with Warner Music Group. “When you’re young and still don’t know much, you have to pay close attention to the things you sign,” the singer wrote to a fan on Twitter. In an Instagram post, she clarified why she felt slighted by WMG. “I asked the label to just do the simple job they were supposed to: promote my music.”
