Maryse Mizanin isn’t just a powerhouse in the wrestling ring—she’s also a dedicated fitness enthusiast and reality TV star, known for her appearances on E!’s Total Divas and her own show on USA, Miz and Mrs., alongside her husband, pro-wrestler Mike “The Miz” Mizanin. Earlier this month, the couple made a splash at WWE Summer Slam, sharing stunning photos on Instagram where Maryse rocked a chic black swimsuit top paired with pants and a jacket. Beyond her glamorous appearances, Maryse is committed to maintaining her health and fitness through a variety of routines. From high-intensity interval training (HIIT) to swimming and ab workouts, here’s how this wrestling star stays in top shape.
Mizanin makes sure to stay fit. She shared some of her workout secrets in an interview with E! Online. “My favorite thing to do is HITT workouts, or high interval intensity workouts,” she said. “I like to do that because I’m not really a cardio person. HITT is basically working your entire body, and it’s burning [calories] for about eight to 12 hours after you work out.”
Mizanin tells E! Online, that she likes to do HIIT workouts that involve lifting weights. “A HITT workout is basically three to four complexes and a complex is about three exercises that you can do about three to four times with no rest. Your heart rate is always up and you’re lifting weights. Women are sometimes afraid they’ll get bulky and big, but that’s not true. You’ll get curves and just be lean, very lean. That’s the trick. Doing cardio is not really going to help in that way.”
Mizanin revealed on Instagram that she decided to have surgery after precancerous tumors were found on her ovaries. She decided to reveal this to let others know to take care of herself. “Let’s bring light to a huge woman healthcare issue here. Women get so conditioned to believe that it is normal to suffer, most often in silence. Told to stop being a cry baby. That it must be hormonal imbalances, just anxiety or just all in your head. This is not normal. This cycle has to be broken!”
Mizanin likes to swim to stay in shape. She shared these photos of herself in a pool in Cabo on Instagram. The Mayo Clinic reports that swimming has a lot of health benefits. “Swimming is easy on the joints, and it’s very good for both cardiac health and your core strength. And it also can give you really excellent strength around the shoulders, and hips and knees.”
Mizanin makes sure to do ab workouts. She shared this photo of herself in the gym on Instagram, captioning it, “Abs after.” The Mayo Clinic reports that doing core workouts are important. “Your core is the central part of your body. It includes your pelvis, lower back, hips and stomach. The stomach muscles sometimes are called abs. Core exercises train the muscles in your core to work in harmony. This leads to better balance and steadiness, also called stability. Stability is important whether you’re on the playing field or doing regular activities. In fact, most sports and other physical activities depend on stable core muscles.”
