Ozzy Osbourne has revealed that he refused to let Kanye West sample a live version of Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs” because the rapper is “an antisemite and has caused untold heartache to many.” However, that apparently didn’t stop West from featuring the sample at his album listening party on Thursday night (February 8th).
West held a listening party in Chicago for his joint album Vultures, Volume 1, with Ty Dolla $ign. Apparently, Osbourne caught wind that the rapper went ahead and played a track that sampled his live performance of “War Pigs” from his concert at the US Festival in 1983.
On Friday (February 9th), Osbourne wrote on Instagram, “Kanye West asked permission to sample a section of a 1983 live performance of “War Pigs” from the [1983] US Festival without vocals & was refused permission because he is an antisemite and has caused untold heartache to many. He went ahead and used the sample anyway at his album listening party last night. I want no association with this man!”
Last year, Ozzy and his wife Sharon poked fun at Kanye and his reported wife Bianca Censori when they dressed up as the couple for Halloween, wearing an all-black head-to-toe outfit and only a pillow, respectively.
Kanye has history of making antisemitic remarks, including in October 2022 when he tweeted, “I’m a bit sleepy tonight but when I wake up I’m going death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE.”
Recently, Ozzy had a completely different reaction to T-Pain’s cover of “War Pigs,” calling it the best cover of the song he’s eve heard.
