Billie Eilish Announces New Album Hit Me Hard and Soft

Billie Eilish has announced the release of her third studio album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, which will arrive on May 17th via Darkroom/Interscope Records.

Eilish says she is not releasing any singles ahead of the album’s release, as it’s meant to be listened to all the way through as a cohesive body of work.

Hit Me Hard and Soft was written by Elilish with her brother and longtime collaborator, Finneas, who also produced the album. In addition to being available on digital platforms, the album will receive a physical release in limited variants created using 100% recyclable materials. (Eilish recently criticized artists who release multiple vinyl variants in order to boost sales.) Pre-orders are now ongoing.

Hit Me Hard and Soft marks Eilish’s third album to date, following When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? in 2019 and Happier Than Ever in 2021. Last year, Eilish contributed “What Was I Made For?” for the soundtrack to Barbie. The song later won the Academy Award for Best Original Song, the second time Eilish and her brother Finneas have won in the category.
