COUNTRY star Darius Rucker is set to release a memoir that will dive into the details of his life and career after recently being arrested.
The memoir is called Life’s Too Short and will be released on May 28 with publisher Dey Street Books.
Rucker’s fame started with Hootie & the Blowfish which he was the lead singer and rhythm guitarist of.
Hootie & the Blowfish started in 1986 and was made up of Rucker and three of his classmates from the University of South Carolina.
The band was extremely successful and sold more than 25 million albums worldwide.
The three-time Grammys winner said when he recalls his past, he is reminded of musical memories even through the hard times.

“If I look back at my life and try to see into my past, everything seems blurry,” Rucker told People.
“But then I lean in and start to hear something. Melodies. Chords. Harmonies. Lyrics.”
Rucker was raised by just his mom in Charleston and said there were points in his life where he was satisfied with simplicity.
However, his fame did lead him to be nominated for tons of awards including Grammy Awards, Billboard Music Awards, CMT Music Awards, and more.
“This book is the story of my life as told through 23 songs that took me away, soaring, starting at ground level, living in a poor but happy home, never wanting for much more, enjoying what I had,” Rucker said in a statement.
“Even when times got tough because I had my escape, my refuge, my music.
“I loved revisiting these memories through the lens of music and I’m excited to share them this May with Life’s Too Short.”
Dey Street Books, which is an imprint of publisher William Morrow, highlighted how the book will get into the nitty gritty parts of Rucker’s life.
Life’s Too Short will explore “stumbles, missteps, and battles with demons,” Dey Street Books said in a statement.
The memoir has also been described as “candid, entertaining and moving … a classic story of a man and his music.”
ARRESTED
The announcement for the memoir comes about two weeks after Rucker was arrested in Tennessee for a minor drug offense.
Rucker was taken into custody on February 1 for two counts of simple possession/casual exchange of a controlled substance, TMZ reported.
He was also charged for a state vehicle registration violation because of expired tags on his car.
All three of Rucker’s charges were misdemeanors.
The country star was released from custody the same day he was arrested.
