Teether and Kuya Neil continue to redefine experimental rap with the release of their latest double singles, ‘DIAL UP’ and ‘SEA LEGS.’ In the latest releases, the duo delves deeper into the unsettling and unpredictable, starkly contrasting to previous releases like ‘ZOO’ and ‘BLUSH.’

‘DIAL UP’ is a high-energy, blown-out collaboration with Melbourne producer Stoneset, delivering warped dub and bass-heavy beats that amplify the song’s chaotic intensity. The track’s video, directed by longtime collaborator Phillip Dixon VII, is an eerie depiction of ritual and paranoia, influenced by the surrealist films of Sergei Parajanov and Andrzej Żuławski.

Dixon describes his approach:

“Pushing the album’s visuals toward something more tactile and handcrafted, I drew inspiration from the movies of Sergei Parajanov and Andrzej Żuławski for this clip. Texture, ritual, and emotional rawness felt like the right language for the paranoid, psychedelic epiphany Teether unravels over Kuya Neil and Stoneset’s bouncing production.”

On the other side of the spectrum, ‘SEA LEGS’ leans into brooding lo-fi SoundCloud rap, reflecting on the day-to-day experience of non-white individuals in so-called Australia. The song builds an unresolved tension, emphasizing the weight of its themes through a hazy, dreamlike atmosphere. Directed by Passive Kneeling (Tom Vanderzeil), the track’s visuals were born from a moment of creative exhaustion that evolved into an instinctual, fluid shoot.

Their upcoming album, YEARN IV, is set to drop on May 2nd. ‘DIAL UP’ and ‘SEA LEGS’ are out now.
