Green Day Announces 2024 Tour — During a performance in Las Vegas last week, pop-punk legends Green Day announced plans for a new tour through 2024. Although support is expected to come from The Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid, and The Linda Lindas, the dates aren’t officially released yet. However, the band also took the time to premiere a new song at the show, titled “The American Dream is Killing Me,” and it’s available to stream now.
Wax Museum Updates The Rock’s Statue After Controversy — The biggest celebrity beef of the month has wrapped up, as Dwayne Johnson’s statue at the Grevin Museum in Paris has finally been updated. Previously, the actor had taken issue to the skin tone of the statue, speaking about it on his Instagram following his reposting of comedian James Andre Jefferson Jr.’s reel on the matter. The Rock took the whole situation with a laugh, and was successful in getting his model updated within a day of his posts.
Robert Plant Performs “Stairway to Heaven” for First Time in 16 Years — At a charity event on Saturday, October 21st, Robert Plant dusted off the classic “Stairway to Heaven” for his first live performance of the track in 16 years. Coming not long after a rendition by Dave Grohl at Ohana Festival, this marks the first time Plant has sung it live since Led Zeppelin’s 2007 reunion concert. This happened as part of “An Evening with Andy Taylor and Special Guests,” a charity concert organized by Duran Duran guitarist Andy Taylor.
Frances Bean Cobain Marries Riley Hawk — In a ceremony officiated by Michael Stipe, frontman for legendary rock band R.E.M., Frances Bean Cobain (daughter of Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain) has married Riley Hawk (so of skateboard legend Tony Hawk). Their relationship had been made public in early 2022, with their marriage ceremony being held on October 7th, as reported by TMZ.
The Beatles Releasing New Track in 2023 — Due to the advent of AI, The Beatles have been reunited in the year 2023 for a new track together. Labeled as their “final song,” the track titled “Now and Then” was originally a ’90s-era demo, with technical issues leaving the recording practically unusable. Peter Jackson and his team had utilized WingNut Films’ MAL audio AI on the filmmaker’s The Beatles: Get Back documentary, and that same tech was then used to clean up “Now and Then.” Paul McCartney and George Martin’s son, Giles, produced the song using other ’90s material and newly recorded 2022 elements (including fresh drums from Ringo Starr). Now, this reanimated track will actually be released on November 2nd. What a world.
