Vera Daisies—the new solo project from Margaux Jaudinaud of Ottis Cœur—arrives with force, releasing the sharp and uncompromising debut single, ‘Chess Game.’

Produced alongside Géraldine Beaux (aka Geagea) and mixed by Alex Farrar (Wednesday, Snail Mail), ‘Chess Game’ is a powerful first step for Jaudinaud’s solo vision. Blending gritty ’90s rock with polished pop touches and modern production elements like autotune and glitch, the track channels romantic disillusionment into something unflinchingly bold. Jagged guitars and pulsing drums (courtesy of Amélie Le Roux) provide the foundation for direct, emotionally complex lyrics—exploring love as a strategic, cerebral battleground. It’s an intense listen, drawing from both teenage nostalgia and more sobering, adult heartbreak.

Accompanying the song is a unique visual package crafted by Vera Daisies herself: a series of mini cartoons and a compelling visualizer featuring a static close-up of the artist set against a backdrop of a collapsing city filled with pop culture references. The imagery juxtaposes internal vulnerability with external chaos, suggesting a world in free fall mirrored by the instability of intimate connection.

‘Chess Game’ is out now on your favorite DSP.
