TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE BEASTS Trailer Prepares for a ’90s Robot War

A live-action Transformers film hasn’t driven into theaters since 2018’s Bumblebee. That’s a long time considering the spinoff was a box office hit and the most critically acclaimed entry in the series. With that kind of success, though, it was only a matter of time before the Autobots and Decepticons returned to cinemas. This summer they’ll do just that, only this time they’ll be joined by some other beloved machines. But the latest trailer for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is a reminder that the future of the franchise will once again take place in the past.

Maximals, Terrorcons, and Predacons? Oh my! Only, instead of the music of The Wizard of Oz this film will be set to a kick ass ’90s soundtrack. (Think Optimus Primal was into Nirvana? He was, right? Yeah. He was.)

What’s going on in this action-packed Transformers trailer? Who are those giant animal robots? And where have they been all this time? Here’s the film’s official synopsis from Paramount:

Returning to the action and spectacle that have captured moviegoers around the world, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will take audiences on a ‘90s globetrotting adventure with the Autobots and introduce a whole new faction of Transformer – the Maximals – to join them as allies in the existing battle for earth.

Always a good idea to join a war when your planet is at risk of being consumed!

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts pulls into theaters this summer, on June 9, 2023. Plenty of time to put together a mixtape and bust out your old Walkman.
