Pierce Brosnan Fined $1500+ After Illegal Yellowstone Hiking

Pierce Brosnan heads out for a hike and then returns to the beach to read a book.

Hollywood veteran Pierce Brosnan has pleaded guilty to one of the two charges brought against him for allegedly walking into a protected hot spring.

The 90s “Bond” star was arrested in November 2023 for trespassing into a restricted area at Yellowstone National Park. However, he initially declared innocence before recently changing his tune to avoid possible jail time.

According to new court documents, Brosnan entered a guilty plea in his illegal hot springs hiking case in Idaho. He accepted responsibility for one of the charges against him—one count of foot travel in all thermal areas and within Yellowstone Canyon confined to trails.

He received the illegal hiking charge for allegedly wandering into a delicate, hot spring at Yellowstone. Pictures of what appeared to be restricted areas were found on his social media page and reposted by TouronsOfYellowstone.

This IG account highlights the tourists/morons (Tourons) who break hiking rules in the beloved national park, per TMZ. Brosnan’s snaps from the off-limits area in Yellowstone were a major no-no, as the hot springs are closed for both the safety of the springs and hikers.

Thanks to the guilty plea deal, Brosnan got the other charge against him dismissed and about $1,540 in fines and other court costs. This is an excellent outcome for the 70-year-old, who previously faced severe consequences for the illegal hot springs hiking.

After initially entering a not-guilty plea just two months ago, the “Tomorrow Never Dies” actor faced up to $5000 in fines or even six months of jail time if he was found guilty.

Brosnan’s escape from possible incarceration comes two years after butting heads with an alleged stalker. In October 2022, he filed for a restraining order against a then-55-year-old woman for allegedly living outside his Malibu beach home.

According to the restraining order documents, Brosnan argued he and his family were in need of protection from an overzealous fan. This woman allegedly lived out of her car, parked outside his home, and refused to leave.

“She has been stalking me and my family,” the Hollywood veteran claimed, imploring the court for protection for himself, his wife Keely, and his two sons, Dylan and Paris. He reportedly resulted to the legal filing after authorities failed to resolve the situation.

Brosnan had called the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department twice to try and remove the woman from his property. However, cops were unable to arrest the woman for simply staying outside his house and advised him to file a civil restraining order.

Pierce Brosnan Was Almost Batman

While Brosnan is well-known for his phenomenal portrayal of the fictional spy James Bond, many don’t know that he almost embodied another famous character. Unfortunately, he lost the role for making a “stupid” comment.

The 70-year-old could have joined the DC Universe as Batman, the beloved knight of Gotham City in the 1989 iteration of the superhero movie.

Despite having the looks and the talent to pull it off, he ruined his chances due to his unfiltered words to Tim Burton, the film’s director.

“I went up for Batman way back in the day when Tim Burton was doing it. Obviously, I didn’t get the job,” Brosnan recalled. He continued saying:

“I remember saying something stupid to Tim Burton; I said, ‘You know I can’t understand any man who would wear his underpants outside his trousers.’ But there you go… the best man got the job.”

While his unfiltered comments didn’t get him the role of Batman, Brosnan went on to star as the iconic James Bond in the “Bond” franchise from 1995 to 2002. He was the fifth actor to nab the role, taking the reins from Timothy Dalton.

Following four 007 movies, Brosnan passed the torch to Daniel Craig. He once addressed his successor’s regime in a candid interview, praising him as a “very strong” actor but confessed that he wasn’t a fan of the actor’s last film, “No Time to Die.”

As for who would pick up the reins after Craig, Brosnan stressed that he did not care about the 007 studio’s next choice for the Bond character. Nonetheless, he noted:

“It’ll be interesting to see who they get, who the man shall be. Whoever he be, I wish him well.”
