Two weeks have passed since music icon Olivia Newton-John passed, and her family is still trying to handle the grief. The star was a four-time Grammy winner and was nominated 12 times during her musical career. One of her most known works is her appearance in “Grease” as Sandy in 1983.

Newton-John was diagnosed with breast cancer in the early 90s and was one of the few stars of that era to talk about it publicly. She advocated for more research on the disease and opened a foundation for this purpose.

The 76-year-old passed on August 4 after a lengthy battle with cancer, which reappeared in 2017. Her daughter, Chloe Lattanzi, recently posted about how she was handling the loss through the words of a British author.

Two weeks after Newton-John passed away, the actress’s daughter, Lattanzi, took to social media to share a heartfelt post concerning how she was dealing with her mother’s passing. In her post on Instagram, she used the words of Jamie Anderson, a British author.

The post was captioned with a heart emoji and read, “Grief, I’ve learned, is really just love. It’s all the love you want to give but cannot. All that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump of your throat, and the hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go.”

The 36-year-old’s followers commented on the post, saying that her mother’s presence would always be felt despite her passing. Messages like, “‘Prayers to you and your family. Your Mom will always watch over you ,” and “Your mother left a flame in our hearts that will burn forever” filled Lattanzi’s comment section.

Newton-John was among the first celebrities in the ’90s to openly discuss their health issues. During the first diagnosis in 1992, the actress revealed that she had breast cancer and talked about her journey after the diagnosis.

She had to undergo a partial mastectomy, breast reduction, and chemotherapy. The entire process led to the founding of the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Centre located in Melbourne. Due to her experiences, for decades after, Newton-John advocated for increased awareness and research on cancer.

The four-time Grammy winner eventually relapsed again in 2013 and then in 2017. The 2017 relapse made her postpone the tour dates of several shows. When announcing the change in plans, Newton-John revealed that she initially thought her case of severe back pain was from sciatica; however, it was a result of cancer that had spread.
