BAYWATCH star Nicole Eggert has lifted the lid on the show and revealed she ‘fought hypothermia’ while filming in her iconic red swimsuit.
The actress, who played Summer Quinn, has said she was often so cold during the beach and ocean scenes that she’d question her career choice.
Nicole, 52, described the long, chilly and rainy days in Santa Monica, California, as “really hard” when asked what she remembers most about working on Baywatch.
Speaking to Fox News Digital, Nicole said: “The cold days you have… the bad always outweighs the good.
“So it was like, being on the beach is the most amazing job in the world.
“But the cold days, the freezing days, the days getting rained out and you have to be in the ocean, you’re going, ‘What did I sign up for? What did I do?’”
Nicole added: “You know, fighting hypothermia. Like just trying to find a dry towel anywhere
“Those were really hard moments.”
Nicole starred in two seasons of Baywatch as Summer from 1992 to 1994.
Her character was one of the youngest lifeguards among the team and was often seen juggling school with her job.
In one particularly hairy episode called The Tower, Summer and Stephanie (played by Alexandra Paul) were held hostage by an escaped psychopath.
Their lives were on the line as they sat trapped in their lifeguard tower with explosives planted all around it.
Nicole left Baywatch after its fourth season and has since admitted she felt it was time to “grow up”, having started out in the TV industry as a child.
The actress had enjoyed playing the recurring role of Marci Ferguson in Who’s the Boss? from 1985 to 1986, and she also appeared in the 1984 series Charles in Charge.
TIME OUT
Explaining her decision to quit Baywatch, Nicole also told Fox News: “I needed to grow up and kind of work on myself.
“At the time, for my own happiness, I just needed to take some downtime.”
This year, Nicole starred in the Hulu docuseries After Baywatch: Moment in the Sun.
The actress helped examine why the show became a cultural phenomenon in the 90s.
It also featured other Baywatch stars including David Hasselhoff, Pamela Anderson, Yasmin Bleeth, Carmen Electra and Jeremy Jackson.
NICOLE’S BRAVE FIGHT
Meanwhile, Nicole was diagnosed with cancer in December 2023.
In an interview with People, she revealed that she had stage 2 cribriform carcinoma breast cancer.
She first noticed the symptoms after she gained 25 pounds in a three-month period.
Nicole was also experiencing a lot of pain in her left breast in October last year, and she found a lump during a self-exam.
“It really was throbbing and hurting. I immediately went to my general practitioner and she told me I had to immediately go get it looked at,” she said.
Nicole had chemotherapy, followed by a single mastectomy and lymph node removal in September this year.
Speaking to Us Weekly at the beginning of this month, the star explained she is now due to undergo a gruelling 18 rounds of radiation and an eventual second mastectomy.
She told the publication: “I’m gearing up to do radiation and then some surgeries and stuff like that.
“But I feel good spiritually. I feel good physically. I feel good.”
