The first trailer for the Road House remake, which hits Prime Video on Thursday, March 21, starring Jake Gyllenhaal has been released.

Road House also features the film debut of former UFC star Conor McGregor, who is playing one of the movie’s antagonists.

Check out both the official synopsis and trailer for the film, via MGM Studios and Prime Video, below.

In this adrenaline-fueled reimagining of the 80s cult classic, ex-UFC fighter Dalton (Jake Gyllenhaal) takes a job as a bouncer at a Florida Keys roadhouse, only to discover that this paradise is not all it seems.

In addition to Gyllenhaal and McGregor, Road House — directed by The Bourne Identity and Edge of Tomorrow filmmaker Doug Liman – also stars  Daniela Melchior, Billy Magnussen, Jessica Williams, Darren Barnet, J. D. Pardo, Arturo Castro, and more.

The release of Road House has become a controversial one, however, as director Doug Liman is boycotting the premiere of the film at South by Southwest due to his frustration with Amazon refusing to release the film in movie theaters.

Just a day before the release of the first trailer, Liman published an open letter in Deadline detailing his beef with Prime Video.

“Amazon asked me and the film community to trust them and their public statements about supporting cinemas, and then they turned around and are using Road House to sell plumbing fixtures,” Liman said.

Prior to his work on Road House, Liman was known for directing movies such as Swingers, The Bourne Identity, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Jumper, Edge of Tomorrow, American Made, and more.

The original Road House, which was directed by Rowdy Herrington and became a cult classic over the yearswas released in 1989 and starred the late Patrick Swayze in the lead role of James Dalton (Gyllenhaal’s character has been renamed Elwood Dalton).
