He Said What?’ And Announce Deluxe Album

Nothing But Thieves have dropped new single ‘Oh No :: He Said What?’ alongside news of a deluxe version of their chart-topping ‘Dead Club City’.

The band’s fourth album became their first to reach Number 1 in the charts, and was swiftly followed by a sell-out UK tour, which included two nights at London’s Wembley Arena.

It will now receive the deluxe treatment, with an extended version set to arrive March 15 via RCA/Sony.

‘Dead Club City Deluxe’ will feature three new chapters to add to the album’s universe – ‘Oh No :: He Said What?’, ‘Time :: Fate :: Karma :: God’ and ‘Pure You’ – as well as stripped-back versions of two of the original album’s singles: ‘Overcome’ and ‘Tomorrow Is Closed’.

Out now, ‘Oh No :: He Said What?’ picks up where the album left off, with its shimmering atmospherics and 80s-inspired synths – have a listen below via the lyric video.

Describing how the new track figures within their recent album, the band have said:

“Like ‘Welcome To The DCC’, the song is mostly from the point of view of those running ‘Dead Club City’ – except now, they’re panicked by the monster they’ve helped to create.

“The grifters have moved in. A utopia that was meant to be beyond borders or traditional government control has been dragged back down by the human condition, maybe it was inevitable.

“The song was the very last thing we finished off in the studio and at one point wasn’t really part of the concept.

“The story was meant to end with ‘Pop The Balloon’ but these extra songs leave the door open a bit. We like that. Maybe we’ll want to check in on ‘Dead Club City’ in a decade’s time and see how it’s doing?”

Around the release of ‘Dead Club City’, the band spoke to Rock Sound about the making of the record as part of our ‘The Album Story’ feature.

Discussing what the future held following the album, and whether the creation of an alternative universe presented them with new opportunities, guitarist Joe Langridge-Brown said:

“I don’t think we’ll know that until we finish the campaign and once the dust has settled.

“I like the idea of throughout our career writing a song from ‘Dead Club City’. They can just be one-offs where we revisit the world for whatever reason.

“As we finish the album, things are quite open-ended and the city is still thriving in a way. That’s probably a question to ask us again in a few years.”

And now it seems they are indeed growing out the world of ‘Dead Club City’.
