I’m an army wife and live in a house with hospital floors and chicken wire fences – trolls say to ‘quit complaining’

The women took to TikTok to show the reality of being any army wife

WE all want our homes to be a reflection of our taste and personality, but for these army wives that’s out of the question.

They took to TikTok to show the reality of living in military housing, but were quickly shut down by trolls.

Posting on @socialsophs the girls shared a tongue-and-cheek tour of their pads.

“We live in military housing, of course we have magnolia walls,” the clip begins.

It’s not just the untrendy wall colour the girls aren’t fans of though – the hospital-style flooring is a no-no too.

They also pointed out some of the other outdated fixtures, including 70s style wooden doors, exposed pipes and light switches that don’t work.

It’s the same story in the garden as well.

“We’re live in military housing, of course we have chicken wire fences,” one of them says.

Soph explained that they must adhere to the same rules as most renters, that means any changes they make must be changed before they move out.

But as far as some people were concerned, they duo “should stop complaining.”

“This is just like a student house babes,” someone else quipped.

“So you mean like any social housing,” another chimed in.

Meanwhile, someone else noted that because military housing is highly subsidised they can at least afford to “put the heating on and eat.”

I’m an unashamed traditional housewife

However, lots of other army wives and girlfriends said they had similar experiences in their subsidised pads.

“The hospital floors are freezing and impossible to get clean no matter how many times you mop,” one person commented on the video.

Another shared a similar experience: “This is the most accurate thing I’ve seen in so long, at least it’s not just my patch.”

Although she does have some qualms with her home, Soph has dedicated a lot of time to doing small DIY jobs to make it feel more like her own.

In a recent video she transformed her bathroom using renter-friendly hacks, like peel and stick vinyl tiles.

Soph is also big into seasonal decor and affordable furnishings to bring some life into her pad.

And to the haters who tell her she should just move house if she doesn’t like the house or rules, she said she’d love that if it meant she could see her husband more, even with the higher cost of living.
