Usher, 45, often wore fingerless gloves for his concerts in the 2000s and 2010s.

The Confessions hitmaker appears to have moved on to black leather gloves in recent years.

The R&B star rocked a pair of patent leather gloves during a pre-game interview on Sunday.

Confused Super Bowl fans flocked to X to ask why he always seemed to be wearing them.

“So I’m genuinely curious…” one fan wrote.

“I thought Usher wearing gloves was a style choice. But he’s worn them in interviews and also wearing them in today’s pregame interview. What is up with the gloves?”

“Uhhh what’s with the gloves Usher???” another asked.

“Why is Usher wearing black leather gloves during an interview in a bar in Las Vegas? Is he going to kill someone before the halftime show?” a third joked.

Some wondered if his solo glove was a “subtle” tribute to Michael Jackson.

“I LOVEEEE how Usher is paying subtle homage to Michael Jackson with the jacket and the gloves. #SuperBowl,” one fan said.

“Usher had gloves like MJ and did a little of a moon walk,” another added.

Usher talked about Michael’s influence on his set, during a recent interview with the New York Post.

“He absolutely revolutionized the experience like no other,” Usher said while describing the King of Pop’s Super Bowl show in 1993.

“He changed how people perceived the halftime show.”

He added that before Michael, “It was just kind of hiring, you know, local performers or whatever it might be. I really did respect that.”

Usher admitted Michael’s performance “became a great inspiration behind some of the things that I chose to do with this show.”

The Confessions singer brought out a whole host of singers for his halftime show on Sunday, including Alicia Keys, Ludacris, and Jermaine Dupri.

COZY WITH ALICIA

Alicia, 43, and Usher danced close together as they performed their 2004 duet, My Boo.

Usher wrapped his arms around the Fallin’ singer’s waist as they swayed to the music onstage.

Alicia, wearing a red bejeweled bodysuit, also performed her hit single If I Ain’t Got You.

A disclaimer shown before the show jokingly warned viewers it may cause “singing, dancing, sweating, gyrating, and possible relationship issues.”

TECHNICAL GLITCH

It wasn’t all smooth sailing, as Usher suffered a technical glitch at the start of his performance when his mic failed.

As fans screamed and dancers surrounded him, viewers at home could barely hear the singer.

At the very beginning of his performance, the sound from the hitmaker’s microphone cut in and out.

The giant microphone, that stretched across his face and covered half of his mouth, just wasn’t cutting it.

It wasn’t until Usher brought out Alicia that the sound finally stabilized.
