Eli, 52, has worked on many major films in the past including Thanksgiving (2022), Knock Knock (2015), Cabin Fever (2002), and Inglourious Basterds (2009).

Hostel producers Chris Briggs and Mike Fleiss will be returning to work on the upcoming horror TV series, according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter.

The show is still early in production and doesn’t have a confirmed viewing platform.

The horror series is set to have a “modern adaptation” with an “elevated thriller” and a “reinvention” of all three Hostel movies that were released in the mid-2000s and early 2010s.

MORE ABOUT THE HOSTEL FRANCHISE

The 2005 film follows three friends who backpack across Europe.

After staying out past curfew and getting locked out of their hotel in The Netherlands, they got persuaded to travel to Slovakia where they stayed at a cheap hostel.

One thing led to another where they were drugged and taken to dungeon-type rooms where wealthy people could pay to torture and kill tourists.

After the movie was released, Slovakia was “offended” by the film and how it portrayed the country.

“I am offended by this film. I think that all Slovaks should feel offended,” MP Tomas Galbavy, a member of the parliamentary culture committee said at the time via BBC News.

“This monstrosity that does not at all reflect reality [and would] damage the good reputation of Slovakia.”

Even after the backlash, the franchise continued two years later when Hostel: Part II was released which has a similar plot to the original.

In 2011, Hostel: Part III came out and revolved around a bachelor party heading to Las Vegas.
