NOUGHTIES actor Dan Byrd is almost completely unrecognisable in his new role – preaching to the choir (literally) in Young Sheldon.
The actor first shot to fame in the early 2000s, appearing alongside Hilary Duff in modernised fairytale classic, A Cinderella Story.
With a dorky attitude, floppy hair and glasses, Dan’s characters have often provided leading ladies someone to talk to.
In 2010’s Easy A, Emma Stone’s character Olive launchpads her bizarre new business idea after trying help Brandon (Byrd) hide the fact he was gay from their high school peers.
Since making his on screen debut back in 1998 in The First Of May – a leading role that saw him portray an orphan who befriends an old woman with whom he runs off to join the circus – Dan has made a career out of being the sidekick to a female star.
But that’s all changing with his latest role, becoming unrecognisable in TV series Young Sheldon, the prequel series to The Big Bang Theory.
In the show, he portrays Young Pastor Rob, the uber-cool new addition to the local church who renews the kids’ interest in Christianity.
He also becomes a much-needed confidante to Sheldon’s mother, Mary, who begins having trouble in her marriage.
However Byrd has consistently been on our screens in the 26 years since he made his first appearance – with a string of hit TV shows under his belt.
Notably, he starred on Cougar Town as Courteney Cox’s character Jules’s teenage son, Travis Cobb.
The series, which ended in 2015, saw Byrd credited in over 105 episodes.
He was also a central cast member of the short-lived American reboot of Utopia, has appearances of Scandal under his belt, and was a core castmember of Aliens in America.
Away from the cameras, Byrd married his wife Lauren in 2016, and together they own a bar in Georgia.
