Wamiqa is a pro at gaining and losing weight. “Going on a weight-loss journey was, of course, a conscious decision and the focus was on being fit. For ‘Jubilee’, I had to put on some amount to look the part since the series is set in the 40s and 50s and people then had a certain body type. My only concern was I didn’t want to starve, but I have an excellent and talented fitness team who made sure I didn’t but had some good food. It feels good to fit into my old clothes,” she told Tribune India.

Wamiqa relies on strength and weight training to keep her body fit. Some of the exercises she does in her Instagram workout videos include deadlifting heavy weights, battle ropes, and pull downs. She also uses kettlebells as part of her routine.

What’s it about body weight and figure? The way you are and the way you talk to people, that’s more important. But somehow the work is going on, and be perfect, there should not be even a single mistake,” says Wamiqa about how society pressures her to be thin. “There are days when it doesn’t matter, and then there are days when I promise myself – okay, I will not eat, I will work out. But there are many other bigger issues in life,” she says. She also doesn’t feel guilty for skipping a workout. “Now I feel if I am still doing workout even after 15 days, that also counts. I have started to forgive myself. I can’t silence people, but I can control how their words affect me.”

Wamiqa is a coffee drinker. According to the Cleveland Clinic, there are several benefits of drinking coffee in moderation. “It acts on your brain to improve memory, mood, reaction times, and mental function,” they say, citing a study finding that caffeine can improve endurance and performance during exercise. It is also antioxidant-rich, can ward off diabetes, prevent neurologic disease, lower cancer risk, and ward off depression, they point out.

Gabbi maintains a plant-based diet. She reportedly “believes in eating a wholesome diet and loves organic vegetarian food.”
