Nick Carter, the Backstreet Boys member and older brother of late former pop star Aaron Carter, has released a heartbreaking statement on the death of his younger brother.
Taking to both Instagram and Twitter, Nick, 42, paid tribute to his younger brother Aaron, who was found dead in his bathtub at the age of 34 years old on Saturday, November 5. Despite the troubles the pair endured — he and his sister Angel sought restraining orders against Aaron after he reportedly confessed to having thoughts of killing Nick’s then-pregnant wife Lauren — the elder Carter stated that he was heartbroken.

“My heart is broken. Even though my brother and I have had a complicated relationship, my love for him has never ever faded. I have always held on to the hope that he would somehow, someday want to walk a healthy path and eventually find the help that he so desperately needed,” Carter wrote on social media.
“Sometimes we want to blame someone or something for a loss, but the truth is that addiction and mental illness are the real villains here. I will miss my brother more than anyone will ever know. I love you baby brother.”

According to reports, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call that a male had drowned in his bathtub at Carter’s L.A. residence at around 11 a.m. PST on Saturday, November 5. The 34-year-old’s body was found by his housesitter, according to TMZ, who then called authorities.
Following Carter’s death, his fiance Melanie Martin released the following statement:
“My fiancé Aaron Carter has passed away. I love Aaron with all my heart and it’s going to be a journey to raise a son without a father. Please respect the privacy of my family as we come to terms with the loss of someone we love greatly. We are still in the process of accepting this unfortunate reality. Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated.”
At the age of 13 years old, Carter released the album” Aaron’s Party (Come Get It”), which sold over three million copies and featured singles such as “Aaron’s Party (Come Get It), “I Want Candy”, and “That’s How I Beat Shaq.”
