Houston’s KenTheMan is featured in a new mini-doc from SoundCloud.
The doc entry, as seen above, is directed by Juan Nieto and gives fans a brief but memorable glimpse into the family-oriented inspirations behind the artist’s continued rise.
“I remember singing and being really shy,” KenTheMan says early into the doc when reflecting on her childhood, as well as her music-centered family. “They said that I was the kid that just wanted everything my way. My mother played the drums, all my aunts could sing. I have a very musical family.”

In April, KenTheMan was announced to be among those selected for the First on SoundCloud 2022 program.
“Like so many of today’s most influential artists first discovered on SoundCloud, these emerging artists are growing their communities and connections with day-one fans on the platform,” Erika Montes, SoundCloud’s VP of Global Artist and Label Partnerships, said at the time.
KenTheMan was joined in the 2022 class by Isabella Lovestory, Kelow LaTesha, Nezi Momodu, Pote Baby, riela, ROSEMARIE, and TITUS.
Currently fresh off the unveiling of her new “Baddest” freestyle, KenTheMan was last year featured in Complex’s annual rundown of which artists to watch for the coming year. Revisit the full 2021 list, also including Morray and Blxst, by hitting this link.
Meanwhile, KenTheMan may have something new on the horizon. In a recent tweet, she revealed to fans that she’s “got a surprise.”
