A grandmother is going viral for making her own YouTube channel after getting jealous that her 1-year-old grandchild would only pay attention to videos from internet star ‘Ms Rachel.’
Ms Rachel is an extremely popular YouTuber, especially among parents of young children, boasting over 14 million subscribers thanks to her educational videos aimed toward toddlers.
Like the ‘Baby Shark‘ and ‘Cocomelon‘ phenomena before her, Ms Rachel has become a big hit in households with little kids — but one grandmother wasn’t a fan.
A woman known to the internet as ‘Grandma Llama’ discovered Ms Rachel after visiting her daughter for Christmas break in 2024… only to find her granddaughter, named Heavenly, glued to the screen watching her videos.

Grandma makes YouTube channel to get granddaughter to pay attention to her
Expecting to spend some quality time with her grandbaby, Grandma Llama was a bit miffed to find that Ms Rachel was Heavenly’s clear preference.
Determined not to be outdone, Grandma Llama took matters into her own hands and created a YouTube channel and a TikTok profile, where she uploaded similar educational videos to get her granddaughter’s attention.
And — it worked. “Heavenly becomes engaged and claps along with my Grandma Llama videos, and so do many other children now that I’ve created my page and shared them with children and families globally,” Grandma Llama said to PEOPLE. “I’ve received tons of special requests.”
“I wanted to bridge the gap of distance and continue to sustain a bond with my grandbaby,” she added. “And she seemed to really enjoy video content from Ms. Rachel, so I decided to get creative and create fun, engaging videos like some of her favorite online stars.”
Grandma Llama’s YouTube channel boasts 436 subscribers, while her TikTok channel is steadily climbing at over 1.3K followers, featuring colorful videos teaching Heavenly about shapes and singing songs like ‘The Wheels on the Bus.’
But her videos aren’t just for Heavenly anymore; now, Grandma Llama is expanding her content for families all across the net, and viewers love it.
“My 10 month old bounced to your song and now we are expecting a whole season of episodes please,” one parent penned in the comments.
“My daughter saw this and immediately came running, asked who it was and if she could watch more videos!” another wrote.
“My son was watching Ms.Rachel, heard you, and took my phone. You’re doing great!!” another praised.
“I have dedicated a whole brand to creating fun family content based on preschool fairytales and fun time and early childhood education,” Granma Llama said. “And I will continue to make specific content exclusively for my Heavenly Pudding.”
