Jay North who was TV’s original Dennis the Menace dies at 73 as pals pay tribute to ‘dear friend’

ACTOR Jay North who rose to fame as TV’s original Dennis the Menace has died at the age of 73.

North died at his Florida home on Sunday following a battle with cancer, his friends said.

He was best known for playing Dennis in the show which first aired in 1959. 

He appeared in more than 140 episodes before it stopped airing in 1963. 

North also starred in series such as Jericho, Maya, and Arabian Nights during the 1960s.

During his career, North was a voiceover actor and appeared in Fred Flintstone and Friends in 1977, and an episode of The Simpsons in 1999.
