There are plenty of rare Pokémon cards that have fetched a ton of money after hitting the market. However, a Cheeto that resembles one of its most iconic characters can apparently be just as lucrative based on how much one resembling Charizard sold for after hitting the auction block.

In 2022, Logan Paul secured the “Illustrator Pikachu” that became the most expensive Pokémon card ever sold after a transaction where he forked over $4 million in cash and another Pikachu card in his collection to bring the overall value to a whopping $5.275 million.

That’s significantly more than Cheetozard—the name given to a Flamin’ Hot Cheeto that bears a pretty striking resemblance to Charizard—ended up selling for after going up for auction, but the price it ultimately garnered is still nothing to scoff at.

Cheetozard came into the possession of the owner of a card and memorabilia store in Georgia at some point between 2018 and 2022, and it got plenty of attention on Instagram last year after they unearthed the viral sensation that had been sitting in a safe.

Last month, the Cheeto was among a number of pop culture-adjacent pieces featured in an auction that was organized by Goldin. The bidding opened at $250, but it didn’t take long for that number to skyrocket thanks to the flurry of bids that drove the price up.

The auction officially came to an end on Sunday after Cheetozard attracted 60 different bids, and when everything was said and done, it sold for a whopping $87,840 (the winning bid was $72,000, but the buyer was also forced to fork over premium).

As things currently stand, it’s unclear who dropped that much money to obtain a Cheeto that looks like Charizard.

However, when you consider the company that makes them has previously shelled out some similarly large sums for other morsels resembling various things, it wouldn’t be a stretch to suggest they were willing to go to great lengths to secure it and generate some buzz in the process.
