The actor and comedian was best known for his titular role in Space Ghost Coast to Coast.

“I’m beyond devastated,” Lowe’s longtime friend, Marvin, wrote on Facebook.

“My Zobanian brother and best friend for over 40 years, George Lowe, has passed away after a long illness. A part of me had also died.

“He was a supremely talented Artist and Voice actor. A true warm hearted Genius.

“Funniest man on Earth too. I’ve stolen jokes from him for decades. He stole some of mine.

“He was also the voice of Space Ghost and so much more.”

Lowe died on March 2, a spokesperson told TVLine.

He had reportedly been suffering health problems for years, Space Ghost contributing writer MC Chris told fans in July 2023.

MC Chris said in a post on X that Lowe had undergone an aortic dissection that required intubation twice.

“We came close to losing him,” Chris, whose real name is Christopher Brendan Ward IV, wrote at the time.

After the operation, Lowe was reportedly living with a nurse taking care of him at his home in Florida.

Tributes to the beloved actor are now pouring in on social media after his death was announced on Tuesday.

Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim remembered the actor in a post on X, prompting fans to share their condolences in the comments.

“Fly high space ghost,” one fan wrote.

A second shared, “Absolute legend. Got to meet him once about 20 years ago.

“Was very gracious to some nobody low level employees who thought he was super cool.”

“A part of my childhood is gone,” another mourned.

“My first experience with George’s buttery voice was with Nickelodeon and his work on their bumps in the mid to later 80s.
