Tasha K (real name Latasha Kebe), the YouTuber slapped with a multimillion-dollar defamation judgement in 2022, is set to pay Cardi B nearly $1.2 million under a newly approved bankruptcy plan.

The court just recently signed off on that Chapter 11 plan, complete with a seemingly harsh five-year payment schedule. We’ve covered the overarching defamation battle (stemming from Tasha K videos first released in 2018) for years now.

Long story short, following appeal efforts and more than a few twists, May 2023 saw the YouTuber file for bankruptcy. But a federal judge subsequently ruled that she’d remain on the hook for defamation damages due to Cardi B – a finding that laid the groundwork for the present bankruptcy plan.

First, the (very) bad news regarding said plan: Tasha K and a company owned by her husband are compelled to cough up a combined $300,000 or so per year for the next half of a decade.

Technically, the sizable sum at hand will reach a variety of creditors – though Cardi B is far and away the largest with an estimated $1.18 million windfall coming her way here, the documents show. (Overall, however, a $3.91 million claim is owed to Cardi B, who can seemingly seek the outstanding balance after the five-year payment plan’s conclusion.)

And in another particularly dark spot in the less-than-ideal situation, a sweeping non-disparagement clause means that Tasha K cannot make “any derogatory, disparaging, or defamatory statements, remarks, or comments” about Cardi B.

With a flagging system of sorts in place for any such comments, Tasha K is further barred from speaking negatively about Cardi B’s family members (“excluding any cousins more removed than second cousins”), businesses, and more, the legal text shows.

To state the obvious, the episode would otherwise make a solid discussion topic for Tasha K’s content. Adjacent to the point – and without diving too far down this rabbit hole – seemingly more controversial comments have come and gone without huge defamation judgements in the past.

Shifting the focus to the (relative) silver lining, Tasha K made clear in a YouTube post that she’s happy to finally put the marathon bankruptcy proceedings behind her. (An interview with her attorney is said to be forthcoming as well.)

Meanwhile, a number of fans are voicing support for Tasha K on platforms including YouTube, where she’s expected to earn an impressive $300,000 during 2025, the bankruptcy plan shows.

Lastly, although the development has largely flown under the media radar, Tasha K has reportedly settled a separate suit filed against her by comedian Kevin Hart.
