Captain America: Brave New World, Marvel Studios first film of 2025, will be releasing in theaters on February 14, and a new trailer for the film has revealed major plot details for the movie, namely the fact that Adamantium — the Marvel element that Wolverine’s claws are made from — will feature heavily in the story.
In a new IMAX trailer for Captain America: Brave New World, Harrison Ford’s character President Thunderbolt Ross declares that the rare and powerful element has “turned us against each other.”
Similar to Vibranium (the element that Captain America’s shield is partially made out of), Adamantium is a nearly indestrucible man-made metal alloy in the Marvel universe and is famously linked to Wolverine, meaning the introduction of the X-Men in the Marvel Cinematic Universe could be around the corner.
While the Hugh Jackman version of Wolverine and the Dafne Keen version of X-23 were both featured in Deadpool & Wolverine, neither character is expected to feature in Marvel Studios’ main X-Men franchise. The same goes for the version of the characters in the animated series X-Men ’97.
In addition to the inclusion of Adamantium, the remains of the Celetisal Tiamut from the largely forgotten 2021 film Eternals will also feature heavily in the film. In fact, the trailer seems to imply that Tiamut is where the Adamantium comes from.
