On Saturday, President Joe Biden presented Presidential Medals of Freedom to 19 people at the White House. Who the medals were presented to, however, has apparently left former NFL quarterback Brett Favre “honestly speechless.”
The Presidential Medal of Freedom is America’s highest honor given to a civilian, along with the Congressional Gold Medal. Among the dozens of past are people like Tiger Woods, Stevie Wonder, Hank Aaron, Richard Petty, Annika Sorenstam, Billie Jean King, Willie Mays, Tom Hanks and Michael Jordan.
This past weekend President Biden bestowed the honor to the last of the 56 people he has given the award during his time in the Oval Office. The most recent recipients of the aware were: Magic Johnson, Lionel Messi, Michael J. Fox, Denzel Washington, Bono, Anna Wintour, David Rubenstein, Jane Goodall, Ralph Lauren, George Romney, Jose Andres, Ash Carter, Tim Gill, Fannie Lou Hamer, Robert F. Kennedy, Bill Nye, George Stevens, Jr., Hillary Clinton, and George Soros.
Brett Favre, without naming any names, responded to the award winners by posting on X (Twitter), “What words would you use to describe the White House medals that were given out because I’m honestly speechless.”
One can probably assume Brett Favre isn’t upset with folks like Magic Johnson and Bill Nye receiving the award, but who on that list could he possible have an issue with? It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to guess that it’s probably Hilary Clinton and George Soros.
According to a White House press release, here are the reasons for their inclusion.
“Secretary Clinton made history many times over decades in public service, including as the first First Lady elected to the United States Senate. After serving as Secretary of State, she became the first woman nominated for president by a major United States political party.”
“George Soros is an investor, philanthropist, and founder of the Open Society Foundations. Through his network of foundations, partners and projects in more than 120 countries, Soros has focused on global initiatives that strengthen democracy, human rights, education, and social justice.”
The press release also states that the Presidential Medal of Freedom is “presented to individuals who have made exemplary contributions to the prosperity, values, or security of the United States, world peace, or other significant societal, public or private endeavors.”
Brett Favre, and many of his X followers, don’t think some of Saturday’s recipients have fulfilled that criteria.
Then again, there were also a lot of responses to Brett Favre’s comment like this…
Shouldn’t you be in jail for taking funds away for $77 million meant for low-income residents? You are a horrible human being.
