Mariah Carey’s Christmas hit “All I Want For Christmas Is You” has crossed more than two billion Spotify streams. It’s the first holiday song to do so.

The song was also certified 16x Platinum by the RIAA, giving the self-proclaimed Queen of Christmas something else to crow about. Fans of Mariah Carey can catch the singer’s Christmas Gameday Show Open on December 25 on Netflix. The performance comes as Carey finishes her Christmas tour.

“This is beyond incredible. I’m honored to have ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ be the first holiday track on Spotify to reach two billion streams!” the singer said of the milestone. “I’m grateful to all Spotify listeners around the world who’ve made the song part of their holiday tradition year after year.”

The song originally released in November 1994 and has become a classic for those celebrating the Christmas season. Over the past five years, the song has gained massive momentum on streaming services, with global streams surging 120%. Young audiences have embraced the song as a Christmas anthem, helping it become one of the most-played tracks.

Streaming of the track since November 1 has skyrocketed with an 860% increase globally and a 1,100% increase in the United States. By Christmas Day 2023, the song managed to top Spotify’s Daily Top Songs chart in 21 countries, continuing its global reign as the top song every Christmas since 2016. The track’s massive popularity may be slowing down however, as DMN reported on Last.fm data showcasing that while the song is still massively popular—it is not reaching the same heights of 2019 and years before.

This year, Mariah Carey embarked on a massive 20-city tour to celebrate the 30th anniversary of her album, Merry Christmas. The tour lasted through December 17 and included stops in Los Angeles, Phoenix, Austin, Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, Nashville, Philadelphia, Boston, Baltimore, Raleigh, Pittsburgh, Newark, St. Louis, and more.
