Turns out, the pair, Ridley Scott and Paul Mescal, were set to tackle the apocalyptic drama The Dog Stars, however, in a plot twist worthy of Hollywood, Scott revealed that Mescal might be too busy with other big projects.

Mescal received endless praise for his role, giving us all the chills as Maximus’ vengeful son, Lucius. While The Gladiator duo was all set for another round of gritty storytelling, sometimes even the best plans get interrupted, this time, by another movie. Guess we’ll have to wait for this cosmic collaboration.

Ridley Scott Share Why He And Paul Mescal Won’t Work

Looks like Paul Mescal is about to be too busy for Ridley Scott’s next project. While the Gladiator 2 star was set to join the legendary director in The Dog Stars, the actor’s calendar has gotten a whole lot busier.

In a surprising twist, Mescal is now linked to a Beatles biopic, specifically playing Paul McCartney. Though it’s not official yet, Mescal himself has teased the possibility and confessed he’d love to take on the iconic role. Even Scott himself spilled the beans about Mescal’s potential Beatles duties during a chat with Christopher Nolan. He said, “Yes. Maybe. Paul is actually stacked up, doing the Beatles next. So I may have to let him go.” (via The Hollywood Reporter)

So, it looks like Mescal will have to choose between strumming with the Beatles or surviving in a post-apocalyptic world. Tough call.

Will Paul Mescal Play In the Beatles?

Given that Paul Mescal himself has expressed a keen interest in playing Paul McCartney, it’s looking increasingly likely that he’ll be officially cast as the legendary Beatles bassist. After all, if anyone would know about the actor’s involvement in the project, it’s Ridley Scott, having worked with Mescal on Gladiator 2 and planning future collaborations.

So, when Scott dropped the hint during a conversation with Christopher Nolan, it’s safe to say he wasn’t just speculating.
