In 2024, our favorite show featuring powerful witchy women is Agatha All Along on Disney+. But in the ’90s and early ’00s, the Halliwell sisters on the WB’s Charmed were the trend-setting witches of the moment. For eight seasons, they cast spells, fought demons, and dressed up in all kinds of different cosplay. (Remember when they were mermaids? And superheroes?) Well, a fan of Charmed and Agatha on Twitter by the name of OBCrack has created a fan edit of the Agatha All Along credits. This one is done in the same retro style as the legendary Charmed Ones from back in the day. You can watch it right here:
This fan trailer has all the Charmed opening credits hallmarks. Most notably, the Love Spit Love cover of The Smiths’ “How Soon Is Now” which serves as the theme song. Interestingly, they chose to list the character names over the actor’s names. So it says “Agatha Harkness” instead of “Kathryn Hahn,” Lilia instead of Patti Lupone, etc. Although they probably did that for the joke of Joe Locke’s character credited as Teen, William Kaplan, and Billy Maximoff. Heck, they could have credited him as Wiccan too. But he hasn’t used his Marvel Comics superhero name on the series yet.
Now that we’ve had a Charmed edit for Agatha All Along, we’re hoping for another mash-up. Here’s hoping a fan out there does one inspired by American Horror Story: Coven. In some ways, the 2013 version of FX’s anthology series is the opposite of the ’90s-style network style of Charmed. But Agatha All Along owes as much to those witches of Miss Robichaux’s Academy for Exceptional Young Ladies as they do to other TV witches. We’d say Bewitched, but WandaVision pretty much covered that one. But when it comes to TV pop culture witches, the list for inspiration is long.
